Sioux Falls Youth Hockey is seeking applicants for Head Coach at the Varsity level for the 2024-25 Flyers youth hockey season.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Director of Hockey on and through the entire high school tryout process
- Attending and overseeing Varsity team practices, film sessions, games, and tournaments
- Setting up and providing video review sessions with Assistant Coaches and athletes
- Creating a specific, season-long practice and development plan appropriate for
- high school athletes with explicit focus on:
- building a growth mindset conducive to positive personal growth and change
- engaging in challenging skill development which will elevate the team’s ability to compete;
- supporting the SFYHA mission statement and organizational values
- Performing any other duties as requested by the Director of Hockey
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the personal and competitive success of the high school athletes
- Coaching or playing experience at advanced level (e.g. JR or DI/DIII collegiate level) is viewed as an asset
- Planning, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as the schedule requires
- Candidates must pass a background check and complete SafeSport training.
- USA Hockey Coaching Certification is also required.
Compensation :
- Salary, to be determined, is paid in installments throughout the season – negotiable for candidates with advanced qualifications or who assist with additional duties within SFYHA
- Reimbursement for actual hotel costs; mileage reimbursement and meal per diem at pre-established rates

- conceptual and tactical hockey specific training and
- coaching development not limited to interpersonal communication and leadership
